Sit Around in Silence
04:52
|
|||
Stayed up too late and watched the streetlights go out
seems like a minute since the sun set
a silent prayer for rain, God please flood the roads today
shouldn’t be allowed but this is how it ends
it's a bandage no one wants to pull, so we
so we spread out the pain, so slow
sit around in silence
better than saying goodbye
I could hold you close till i die
sit around the table
always leave an empty plate
as if you’re not here yet but on your way
or running late
she’s like a midnight rain wake up and you missed it again
I’m more like a bum, begging for change
a word from one who knows, don't just get caught in the flow
this whole big world is a train that passing by
man we sat for hours and just breathed, tried to
slow down time, with our heartbeats

Unknown and Unseen
04:11
|

I've quit stopping at the only red light in town
The cops quit caring ‘cause they’ve always felt the same
This town kills hope like a broken heart
You feel like the houses falling apart
Man, there’s gotta be an answer to the call for change
Somewhere there’s a road that leads to nowhere and I’m gonna find it
Somewhere there’s a train that never stops and I’m gonna ride it
You could spending your waking hours working for dust
Or destroy your voice screaming at the sky above
It’s a gas station town just for passing through
Or a home for the hopeless with nothing to do
Man, the people round there are bleeding from their veins
Somewhere there’s a road that leads to nowhere and I’m gonna find it
Somewhere there’s a train that never stops and I’m gonna ride it
Call me crazy for wanting out
I’m gonna take my chances on another town
Out in the shadows of the unknown and unseen

Something
03:46
|

On the playground
good guys versus bad
told I’d be a leader of men
but I never got the grades
and slipped beneath the waves
hoped I’d have chance again
I made choices
and choose to be selfish
I said I’d move away to find some work
I thought I’d own the firm
but only toiled the earth
man I swore, I was gonna be something
Everyday the sun comes up shines down
and everyday it sets just the same
So I sit and watch it from my front porch
I swore I was gonna be something
this desire
it burns for some of us
for others it's just a pilot light
Though you only know its there
when it disappears
and hope to God it safely returns
and the radio is singing its song
I can hear calling calling me out
but I just turn it down
but I just turn it down

A Reason
05:08
|
|||
he grew up never knowing what was happening
always trying to run away
words from family can cut much deeper than
any hole in this state
father’s anger was something awful
a real sight to behold
mothers words were always gentle
until she thought that they were alone
and nothing’s gonna ease this pain
not the pills, not a bottle, not the ladies by the highway
and nothing’s gonna make you stay
need a reason to find something to love
Everything grand is covered by a layer of dust
Oh my instincts why would you even try
Some days it feel like all that's good has died
I need a reason to find something to love
grew a temper which like a dust storm
could fill you up and knock you down
all the cops with their broken egos
would drop him on the edge of town
see those those train lights feeling heaven coming down
see that rain fall feeling like we’re gonna drown
I wanna find myself away from here
