This Mess
04:15
|
|||
She sees a rainy day
I see a chance play
we hide in separate rooms
She’s watching tv shows
I blast the radio
to run the silence away
Call me lazy or call me out
Call the fire from heaven down
Let’s just put all these knives away
cause it’s not enough this time
We only got ourselves to blame
for all this mess you find us in, and
If we could spin the clocks back around
I’m sure we’d make this mess again
I count the stars at night
She’ll leave on all the lights
To help her feel less alone
I drive for miles on end
She’ll call her folks again
To tell them she’s not alright
It seems the only times
You turn to look and come to find
The well is dry when
everything's on fire
we fell from movie screens
To plot a cliche tragedy
The audience is stunned
wonders why

Call an Ambulance
03:26
|

There’s that old cliche
Where there's smoke there is fire
I followed her signals to my house
Out there in the yard
my heart's upon a pyre
She’s fanning the flames of doubts
Oh call an ambulance
her heart is gone and I can’t seem to find it
Oh get out while the getting is still good
set it all on fire and watch it burn
She’s all neighborly
Like no one's gonna notice
I burying my love in yard
But when no one is looking
She’s cutting up my bed frame
Nothing’s safe from turning into char

When It Ends
04:08
|
|||
Not a trumpet sounds
Not a neighbors cry
No get well cards
No reception line
She left this house
This heart of mine
She left this town
No reasons why
All that I can see is
A rainy day
When it all ends
It all just ends
Not the jeering or applause
That I expected
When it all ends
It all just ends
So we tear the garden out that we let die
To start again
She took her things
No written notes
She never wrote
No letters home
my friends just say
You’ll be just fine
But no one knows what's
On the other side
All that I can see is
A rainy day
Say you never meant to move on
I know it always felt like home here
But every time you say goodbye I never know If you’re gone
When you’re gone
